The once-flat path presents you with an uphill journey past a model of Mt. Fiji. Shintoism believes that each natural feature has a divine spirit—and this Mt. Fuji welcomes the spirit of the tallest mountain in Japan to bless the Fabyan Japanese Garden. On the winter solstice, the shortest day of the year, bonfires burn on Mt. Fuji to encourage the sun’s return.
