1976: Durant-Peterson House Added to National Register of Historic Places

Durant-Peterson House added to National Register of Historic Places

In 1976, the Durant-Peterson House became one of the first national register landmarks in Kane County. During its restoration in the 1970s, the white paint on the original 1843 portion as shown in the photo was removed so the original red brick could be exposed. The 1870s "Peterson kitchen" addition has remained white clapboard siding.
