Perhaps one of the strangest periods of American history began on this date in 2020.
All of our museums were closed for the rest of 2020 and there was great uncertainty, at the time, as to whether we ever be able to reopen again. Fortunately, the Forest Preserve District of Kane County, our members, our volunteers, and the public continued to support us. In 2021, we re-opened with about half of the number of open days and strict mask rules as recommended by the CDC—and visitors returned! Then, in 2022, our visitation soared at the Fabyan Villa and Japanese Garden with a record 12,000 visitors.
Visitation would have been impossible without the overwhelming dedication of our volunteers who helped keep everyone safe.
