For the last nine years (excluding COVID) we have hosted a summer camp at the Durant-Peterson House and Sholes School for third to sixth graders. Dressed in period clothing for about 2 and 1/2 hours per day for four days, campers learn how to make candles, fetch water, make butter, play games, go to school, and more. Our volunteers have been wonderful to share their time and expertise every year. As one example of the feedback we have received, a parent wrote us in 2022, "My two daughters had a great time at camp. Their only complaint was that it was too short because they were having so much fun!"
