St. Charles, Ill. – The aroma of fresh-cut evergreens, the warmth of a crackling fire, the harmony of holiday music, and the flicker of candlelight will be just some of the immersive encounters during Candlelight at the Durant-Peterson House Museum on Saturday, December 7, and Sunday, December 8. Built in 1843, the Durant-Peterson House Museum will open from 3-7 PM and be lit only by candlelight and oil lamps.
The nearby Sholes School Museum, built in 1872, will host a traditional children’s Christmas pageant. Visitors can enjoy the program at 3:30 PM, 4:15 PM, 5:30 PM, or 6:30 PM. Each show is about 20 minutes and seating is limited.
The Durant-Peterson House and Sholes School Museums are located within the LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve at 37W700 Dean Street in St. Charles.
Tickets include both museums and are $5/adult and $1/child under 18. Entry times are at half-hour intervals at the Durant-Peterson House Museum to ease congestion. The pageant can be seen before or after visiting the Durant-Peterson House. For tickets and more information, click the button below.
