WEST GUEST ROOM
Nelle’s father, Ely Wright (no relation to Frank Lloyd Wright), occupied this room after his wife’s death in 1916, until his death in 1925. Later, this room was occupied by Belle Cummings, a long-time employee and friend of the Fabyans.
The focal point of this room is the huge cathedral-style window with elongated hexagon designed by Wright. The nearly 6 foot tall window looks deceptively small from outside.
The chaise was used in the Colonel’s office at The Lodge, located across Route 31, which is now a private residence. The piano is similar to Nelle’s piano that was in the hall just outside this room. Along the south wall is a collection of Colonel Fabyans’ military artifacts including two World War I helmets, a World War I used artillery shell and a used Civil War artillery shell.
Exit this room to your left into the Colonel’s Bedroom. Be careful! There are two steps heading down into his room.
