LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve is hosting Maple Sugaring Days and the 1843 Durant-Peterson House and Sholes School Museums will be open!
Join us on Saturday, March 2, and Sunday, March 3 from 1-4 PM to hear how the pioneers used maple sugar and maple syrup as an organic sweetener. Warm yourself by the fire, both outside and inside, as we discuss 19th-century recipes.
Stop by the one-room Sholes School Museum where the Teacher will read maple syrup poems and show kids how to make a maple leaf puzzle.
PLUS…
With the pre-purchase of two tickets or more, your family will receive a packet of sugar maple seeds, trees which are native to Kane County, to plant in your own yard! Learn more about growing your own sugar maple tree here.
Fees include a visit to the Sholes School Museum as well.
