Civil War Solider Encampment on the Durant House Lawn

The 19th Illinois and 6th Wisconsin Units are Living Historians, also known as Civil War Reenactors. They teach history through living it. Come walk through displays of equipment that soldiers used and see demonstrations of camp life and cooking rations. At this hands-on event, visitors can handle equipment, try on uniforms and taste a little 1860s cooking.

Drills for kids:  At 2:30 p.m. KIDS CAMP will begin. Once “enlisted”, kids will learn drills from experienced soldiers and practice as a regiment. What fun for them and a proud moment for the parents!

The Durant House and Sholes School Museums will be open too.

Suggested donation $3/adults and $1/child 18 and under.
