LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve is hosting Maple Sugaring Days and the 1843 Durant House will be open!

Join us on Saturday, March 4 and Sunday, March 5 from 1-4 PM to hear how the pioneers used maple sugar and maple syrup as an organic sweetener.   Warm yourself by the fire, both outside and inside, as we discuss 19th-century recipes. 

Stop by the one-room Sholes School where the Teacher will read maple syrup poems and show how to make a maple leaf puzzle.

The Durant House Museum has a suggested donation of $3 per adult and $2 per child for special events. Fees include a visit to the Sholes School Museum as well.
